The Rules

We will be following the rules of golf with the following additions. Remember to keep up with the group in front of you and play the ball as it lies. Let’s make this the year we eradicate slow play! If you notice a violation of the rules it is your duty to “protect the field” by pointing out the infraction.

1. Handicaps:

-If you have an official handicap we will use that, adjusted to the Saturday course.

-If you do not have an official handicap we ask that you declare one that represents how you play when you play good golf. Remember that an official handicap is an average of your best 8 of your last 20 scores, adjusted for course difficulty.

-Handicaps will be adjusted after the first round. If you shoot under your handicap, your handicap will be reduced by the amount of strokes that you went under, plus one. Example: you had a handicap of 25 and you shot 92. You are 5 under. The next day you play with a handicap of 21. If you shoot over your handicap, your handicap will be increased by half of what you were over (rounding upward). Example: you had a handicap of 15, you shot 92. You are 5 over. The next day you play with a handicap of 18.

– No one will play with a handicap higher than 26 (27 with donation).

-Those who donated to charity, by the declared deadline, receive an extra stroke each day after all other adjustments

2. Mulligans

-You may replay one tee shot per day

-Once you declare you are hitting a mulligan, you are abandoning your first tee shot. There is no such thing as a “provisional mulligan”, nor may you choose between the two shots you have hit.

-Your mulligan may not be used for long drive or for closest to the pin

3. The highest score you may take on any hole is a 9. When it is clear that you are going to make a 9 pick up your ball.

4. The most putts you may take on any hole is 3. A putt is defined as a stroke taken while on the putting surface. If you use your putter from the fringe or fairway that does not count as a putt.

5. Tees:

OLD GREENWOOD:

With the exception of scratch players, you may choose to play the two tree tee, the combo tee or the three tree tee. Your course handicap will be adjusted accordingly. Scratch players must play the three tree tee.

GRAY’S CROSSING

Those with index + charity stroke higher than 16 play the White (Stampede) tees. Those between 4 and 15.9 play the Blue/White (Tahoe/Stampede) combo tees. Those under 4 play the blues (Tahoe), scratch players play the tips. We are using index to determine tee, not adjusted Sunday handicaps.

6. Long drive: One hole per day will be designated for the long drive competition. We will use #5 at Old Greenwood and #15 at Gray’s Crossing. Drive must be in the fairway. If you are 50 or older hit from the 2 tree at OG and the White (Stampede) tee at GC. If you are younger than 50 hit from the 3 tree at OG and the blue (Tahoe) tee at GC. Scratch players hit from the tips at GC. Prize for each day is $100.

7. Closest to the pin: closest to the pin prize will be awarded on all par 3’s both days. Prize for every CTP is $100. You may not use your mulligan to win CTP.

8. Gross Skins: if you have the lowest score in the entire field, regardless of handicap, on a hole, you win the skin. Skins winners will split a pot of $600 each day. If there are no skins

winners for a particular round, the money carries over to the next round, or next year as the case may be.

9. Net Skins: if you have the lowest score in the entire field, after handicap adjustment, on a hole you win the skin. Skins winners will split the money set aside for skins that day. Maximum adjustment is one stroke per hole. All players will stroke based on the low handicapper in the field. If the low handicapper is getting 6 strokes that player will get zero strokes in the net skins game. A seven handicapper will get one, an 8 gets two, a nine gets three, etc. This will allow a 25 handicapper to get the advantage they deserve over an 18 handicapper. Again the maximum is one stroke per hole. Your stroke holes will be marked by a dot on your scorecard. Net Skins winners will split a pot of $300 each day.

10. Long Putt: The 18th hole will be designated the long putt hole. The longest putt sunk, from the putting surface, on that hole wins the prize of $100. If, before putting, you think your putt may be long enough to qualify, leave a ball mark next to the spot when you strike your putt.

11. Low Net Payouts: Each day we will give a cash award to the top four low net scores for that day. $200 total purse each day

12. Gimmies: putts inside the leather (18 inches or less) may be given unless the putt is for a natural birdie or eagle.

13. Lost Balls (in unmarked areas). All balls lost or unplayable in the forest or chapparal are to be played as lateral hazards. Go to where the ball entered the forest or chapparal and take relief by dropping two club lengths from that spot with a one stroke penalty. Relief means you are no longer in the forest or chapparal and that you are able to take a normal stance and a full swing.

14. Scoring: You will record your scores on a hard copy scorecard which will be in your cart, with handicap holes

denoted by a dot. You will give that scorecard to Dave Laurance at the conclusion of the round. He will enter those into the official excel spreadsheet used to determine prize winners and overall champions.

15. Distribution of Prize Money: Players who win money on Saturday will receive their winnings Saturday night or Sunday morning. Aaron Schleifer will have the money and he will do his best to find you. Players who win money on Sunday may have to wait until after closing ceremonies (crowning of the low net and low gross champions), to receive their money.
